My oldest son is in preschool this year. It's an awful lot to swallow sometimes because I dread the fact that he's growing up! This November, his school threw a little Thanksgiving Feast in conjunction with The Community Table, which is a market-style food pantry organized and executed by the preschool's affiliate church. I love that my son was exposed to this for so many reasons. All of which I will not subject to you, but I'm sure you can attest that you and I can so easily forget that there are people in our own neighborhoods that are much worse off than we are, yet we feel entitled to complain about what we have or don't have. Simply reaching out a helping hand is so comforting to someone going through difficult times.
With that said, let's sit back and contemplate - not just on Thanksgiving day, but also throughout the year - about what we've been blessed with and in conclusion be truly grateful for where we are and what we have. Think about what you can do to help someone out these next holiday filled months.
This little Indian, is spectating the individuals at The Table. While most people would steer clear of these people in want, be it their outward appearance or crazy mutterings, he had the opportunity to see that there are good people out there who will hold out a helping hand and treat others indifferently. I am thankful for a place like this... One day I hope he is able to appreciate it as much as I do.
